How to Make iTunes Ringtones? [Solved] 2019
What better way to enjoy your best song than to use it as your ringtone? Unlike Android users that can easily set and use a song as ringtone, the same can’t be said for iPhone users. A friend of mine had actually fallen in love with the N.E.R.D & Rihanna song – Lemon, and few weeks back she decided to make the song her ringtone on her new iPhone only to realize she had to pay for it. If you’re reading this you’ve probably gone through a similar ordeal, or you’re presently in that position and seeking a way out. Well, that’s the purpose of this article. Method 1: How to Make iTunes Ringtones with iTunes?
Step 1.Select Your Song
First, check to confirm that the song you want to use as your iPhone ringtone is in your iTunes library.
Once you’re certain it’s there, locate the song and right-click on it. Lots of dropdown options will be made available to you, just select Get Info.
Step 2.Set Ringtones Start and Stop Time
Select the Options Tab to set your desired duration for your iPhone ringtone.
Check the start and stop checkboxes and then set your ringtone start and stop time (max is 40 seconds).
Once you’re done click OK.
Step 3.Create An AAC Version
Next is to create an AAC version of the song you selected. With the song selected, click on Menu Bar >> File >> Convert >> Create AAC Version. Doing this will automatically create a copy of that specific section of the song we altered.
Once this is done correctly, you should have a copy of the song, only a shorter version this time.
You’ll also want to go back to the original song and reset the start and stop time you set.
Step 4.Find The AAC Version
Locate the newly converted song and right-click on it and choose Show in Windows Explorer (For PC), or Show in Finder (For MAC).
It’ll show up in your finder window as an .m4a file extension.
Step 5.Convert to Ringtone
Select the song and rename the extension from .m4a to .m4r by just replacing the “a” with “r”.
Renaming the file extension changes it to a ringtone.
Step 6.Delete The AAC Version
Go back to iTunes and locate the newly converted AAC version.
Right-click and select Delete.
You’ll get a pop-up with three options Cancel, Keep File, and Move to Trash.
Choose Keep File.
Step 7.Add to iTunes Tone Library
Go back to Finder Window (For MAC) or Windows Explorer (For PC).
Double-click on the renamed file with the .m4r extension to automatically move the ringtone to iTunes Tone Library.
By following the step-by-step guide above, you will get iTunes ringtones from your desired songs.
After you get iTunes ringtones, you can also sync those ringtones to your iPhone:
Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
Under your device, choose Tones and select Sync Tones.
Tap Sync at the bottom of your screen.
You can repeat this for as many songs you want to use as an iPhone ringtone. Once it’s done, open your iPhone go to Settings >> Sounds >> Ringtone to find your newly created free ringtones for iPhone.

Disadvantages of Making Ringtones with iTunes:
It is impossible for you to preview the ringtone before saving.
Syncing iTunes tones will cause the existing tones to be deleted.
For those syncing for the first time, this might wipe your iPhone.
